Arriving in New York is always a good feeling but when you know it’s the start of a two-month tour it’s a little hard to process. Arriving at Newark to a storm was not what I was expecting and I was hoping it would not be an omen that I was bringing the weather or the weather would not let me land on shore. Made it to a yellow taxi and got taxi to 2nd Avenue and to a real old apartment which reminded me of the tv show cheers. Ive never been able to walk around the city so I wandered into park avenue and found an old book shop and was then lobbed into the street for no reason. I think the book shop guy wanted to close but I thought he thought I was nicking books or maybe from a rival shop. Later on that evening I arrived at S.O.Bs to play my first show for the lovely Nona Hendrix. Nona is from the band Labelle and is one of the greatest performs you could wish to see. I learnt a lot from watching her. She’s also one of the nicest people you could ever meet no matter what you spend your days doing. Her partner Vicki Wickham is another of these wonderful people who you’re thankful to know. Both of them have shown me amazing support and I owe them a lot. The show was great and thanks very much for coming down to support me. The second show was at Arlenes grocery and its probably my favourite venue in the world right now. After having a hectic day the one place you want to play at is a cool, friendly venue where you feel some kind of moral duty to make your songs stick to the wall. Arlenes is like that. It was completely packed and if you didn’t get in ill be back in September. It kinda feels like my home from home now.

Arrived by car in Philadelphia from New York and managed to see a bit of the surrounding countryside. Its nice to be able to see the bits in-between the cities like in England it shows the real elements of a place. The only bad thing about touring around is that you don’t really get any chance to explore and see what makes up the city your in. Philly looks like a really cool place and I really like the way it looks, odd buildings and close streets. It has a feel of northern England about it. I arrived at The North Star Bar around 6.00 for a few interviews and already there were people there. The support so far for both the New York shows was really special and a real good indication of the rest of the tour. The show in Philly was one of the most enjoyable ive had in a while. The crowd was one of the best I have ever had and it felt a bit like a blues brothers show at times but that’s how I like it. I got to play for an hour which afterwards makes you feel you’ve gone through eight rounds with a hit man, but again that’s the way I like it. Heading to Dallas, at the airport now and want to get there and see Marcus and Sammy. Have really good feelings about everything and I feel Im on the right road.

Meanwhile, tickets for shows across the nation have been selling out quickly – news from London has confirmed today that many venues booked are officially sold out, with others having only a few tickets left available. Fans still waiting for the venues in their areas to release pre-sale tickets should have news as the dates grow closer; tickets for both of the fan favorite Hotel Café shows in Los Angeles were released for sale yesterday, and are expected to sell out in the next few days.

Bobby is pleased:

“ I love that venue (The Hotel Café), it suits me perfectly and I’m looking forward to getting back there again very much. I love to do hot sweaty intimate places where I’m close to the crowd. It’s a great venue.”

Tour dates for the second leg of the Dangerous Summer Tour of the USA are well on the way to completion. Says manager Phil Taylor:

“We are just waiting on Madrid in Spain and maybe Rome in Italy and then that will be all we have time for this time round. I would like to get there for a proper tour in late January before Bobby heads over to Australia. But we will see, we want to do SXSW in Austin in March and maybe a handfull of other US dates around that time too.”

Fans that were not able to attend the New York, Los Angeles and Nashville shows during Bobby’s first U.S. mini tour will be pleased to find that the bluesy Brit and his team are expanding his tour to include locations less played; Phil continues:

“I’m booking shows in places where Bobby will not have played before as well as in NYC and LA and so on. We are looking at the Carolinas, the Dakotas, and a few out of the way places. Bobby and I love America and want to try to see a little of it’s beauty and it’s amazing history as we tour.”

Bobby and I have noticed that there are now several face book pages dedicated to Bobby Long and his music. We also noticed that none of them had any up to date info about Bobby’s upcoming Dangerous Summer Tour dates in the USA and Europe.

We decided to set up the only official Bobby Long Facebook page our selves which both Bobby himself and I have access to and will be able to update during the tour with photos and blogs that are not available any where else. We will also both be adding and contributing messages and answers to messages each day.

We will keep the tunes coming and going on the myspace page and that page will also have the definitive list of tour dates and ticket info, so please keep your eye on that as well as tour dates will not be uploaded to the facebook page.

This past week, Bobby played The Serpentine Sessions at London’s Hyde Park.

Phil Taylor advises:

“Hyde Park is the the largest park in London and often hosts large scale concerts and festivals. Bobby played a few days after Neil Young and Springsteen and a few days before Blur and Basement Jaxx at the Wireless Festival. All these events were put on at the same site using the same infrastructure of stages and back stage areas.”

Phil goes on to say that he and Bobby will be bouncing from event to event, trying to see as many friends as possible before departing London for Bobby’s U.S. Dangerous Summer Tour; though Bobby will be returning briefly to London in October for album work, both he and Phil will be in America on through next summer. He also lets us in on a little secret:

“In the mean time we are both gearing up for the London show at The Garage on the 17th. There are only 17 tickets left as I write this, so we are excited to get there and see lots more old and new friends. On the 18th Bobby plays a private party for a large group of Germen people who are flying to London for a private audience. There is a very strong rumour that Bobby will be doing a small farewell show with friends at the Albany at some point over next week end as well. Check the myspace on Saturday night after the Garage show to find out more.”

Phil Taylor gives us the latest:

I thought that you may like to know that we have just announced 3 new European shows, as well as the rout for the rest of the Dangerous Summer US tour dates that end on the 19 December in NYC. Promoters are getting back to me rapidly and I expect to have a lot more US tour dates announced shortly. I hope to have a few more Spanish, Italian and French dates booked very soon as well.

Tickets for the US dates already announced are selling briskly now, we expect many shows to be sold out well before Bobby Long turns up to play them. Atlanta, Chicago, San Francisco, Minneapolis and Cambridge only have a handful of tickets left available at this time.

Bobby and I would like to thank people for making this even more amazing for us buy purchasing their tickets so early. It only adds to our excitement and keenness to get back to America to play for, and hang out with, you all.
